ICTP Postgraduate Diploma Programme

The ICTP Postgraduate Diploma Programme is a one-year, intensive pre-PhD training designed for talented graduates from developing countries in physics, mathematics, and related fields. Established in 1991, the programme prepares students for doctoral studies at leading universities worldwide.

Each year, ICTP offers 10 full scholarships per field (including travel and living expenses) for students from developing countries. Additional qualified candidates may attend on a self-funded basis.

Eligibility

• Degree equivalent to an MS (or an exceptional BS) in physics, mathematics, or related disciplines

• Generally under 28 years old

• Strong academic record and recommendation letters

• Proficiency in English
  
  

Participants complete coursework, exams, and a final dissertation. Many graduates continue to PhD programmes and scientific careers internationally, often returning to contribute to research development in their home countries.
